Aztlan by Gabriel Martinez Meave

Aztlan takes its name from the mythical, ancestral place where the Aztec people came from, in immemorial times.

The traditional constructive principle of the ancient Mexican pyramids —slope and board— is also the structural basis for the design of Aztlan. The negative space among the letters recall the stone friezes of old temples and textile motifs, and the monolateral serifs evoke a mythical, enigmatic dance. A subtle play of angles and curves gives a taut, crisp, lively spirit to short texts and headings, making Aztlan an excellent display face.
